Under the Global Fund Round 10 titled

The Road towards an HIV Free Society, WADADIA is a Sub-Recipient under the Kenya Red Cross Society and is implementing activities under the following Service Delivery Area:

SDA 1.2: Care and Support for the Chronically ill (HCBC)

Identification, recruitment, profiling and training of community health workers in HCBC skills. These trainings were conducted with the support of Global Fund through the Kenya Red Cross society as the Principal recipient. Currently, WADADIA has 88 active CHWs operating within 18 community units in Khwisero, Matungu and Mumias Sub County.

The community Health workers are tasked with conducting home visits to people living with HIV with the aim of providing Home and Community Based care for the chronically ill clients. These visits also aim at training and transfer of nursing care skills to the caregiver in these households.

Under the same SDA, the organization brings together the PLHIVs in training outreach events aimed at building their capacity of information and skills in achieving positive living.

PMTCT

SDA 2.1 Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT),

Under this SDA, CHWs are required to recruit visibly pregnant women, track them up through their course of pregnancy and ensure they deliver at health facilities through referrals for skilled deliveries in hospitals assisted by trained and qualified health service providers. During their tracking, the pregnant women are brought together at least once before delivery in a training forum to impart knowledge and information on the importance of having hospital deliveries as well as utilization of Ante- Natal Clinics services. Through these training outreach events, men are also brought together in forums that aim at encouraging them to participate in prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV
